Brewed as an ale and cellared to be clean and crisp, the Kolsch appears simple with its straw color and moderate hop bitterness thanks to the right balance of noble German hops and 2-Row malt making this a great session beer.

32 ounce crolwer, filled 6/21/2025 at the Ohio Crooked Can location. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a mostly clear dark gold color with about an inch off-white head that stuck around a long time. Decent amount of lacing. The brew smells like grainy malt and some floral/grassy hops. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some grapefruit and lemony citrus. Hoppier smelling and tasting than I expected, but that's not a complaint. Mouthfeel/body is light, it's smooth and easy to drink with a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, seemed hoppier to me compared to other Kolsch style beers I've had but it's certainly worth a try if you get the chance.

Pours a slightly chill hazed deep straw, with a little effervescence rising. The pour produces 2+ fingers of somewhat lasting, foamy white head that recedes to a thin cap with scattered surface islands & thin collar ring. Recedes to leave a hint of wispy lace. Aroma is cracker/biscuit malt, fruity/vinous, floral & some grassy hops. Taste is biscuit, sweet malt fruit forward with notes of lemony citrus, floral and grassy hops. Finishes fruity with biscuit & grass, spicy, slightly dry & lighly bitter with a thin bitterness intensifying in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation, crisp, clean & dry dry with a pleasant prickliness. Very, very drinkable.

Pours a clear gold with thin fast fading soapy white head. Smell: pale malt, metallic, lightly sulfury, grassy and spicy notes. Taste: more of the same... sweet graininess, moderate spicy hopping, note of lemon candy, note of white grape, grassy closer. Light bodied, slick and not quite crisp finish, somewhat aggressive carbonation. It would be fine as a lawnmower, sure, but as a Kolsch it's mediocre and with some flaws.

I'm a big fan of this style and frankly they nailed it! Clear golden color with a wispy head. Excellent carbonation and mouthfeel. Great malt flavor with just a hint of hop bitterness. Extremely clean finish. They tout this as a perfect lawn mower beer and I couldn't agree more; especially after cutting my grass here in FL on a 95 degree day with 90% humidity. Very well done!
