Im sampling a 12 oz cold bottle poured into my snifter. This beer has been in my fridge for about 2 years and was originally a gift from my brother. Forgot it was in the fridge behind some other beers. COVID drinking increase is allowing me to unearth some treasures.
The beer pours a lively clear bright gold hue, almost like a champagne. A fizzy bleached white head of about 1 cm foams up and fades to a few wisps of surface bubbles. Some lazy streams of carbonation rise to the surface but dont add anything to the foam.
The aroma is a bit of biscuit malt and some spicy notes. I get some light clove note and a green apple cider hit both mix with some black pepper. Overall the nose is on the mild side but seems appropriate for the style.
The first sip reveals a light and crisp textured body with fine and tingly carbonation.
The flavor is light malt and fruity green apple and some cider notes mixing with cloves and again black pepper bite on the finish. Not any booziness and the finish is very dry. I was hesitant to review this aged beer based on style, but I think it held up really well and find it to be a good example of the style.
