1/3rd pint on-draught @ the brewpub for 110 baht.
English bitter. Brewed with pale and crystal malts, and Challenger and East Kent Goldings hops (both imported from England). 4.2-4.5% ABV.
HEAD: Off-white, receding fully within 10 seconds.
BODY: Translucent copper of average vibrance. No yeast is visible within.
AROMA: Pale malts, buttery diacetyl, uninteresting bittering hop character, faint honey, a blip of herbal hop character. Aromatic intensity is subdued.
TASTE & TEXTURE: Buttery and coating on the palate, emphasizing a faint herbal hop character and troublesome pale malt sweetness. Imbalanced.
Smooth, wet, light to medium-bodied, overcarbonated, unrefreshing. There's no ideal harmony of texture and taste here.
OVERALL: Forgettable unremarkable fare from a competent brewery. This will satisfy the odd British expats that happen in, but won't intrigue more discerning drinkers. Still, flawed and shallow as it is, it's still more flavourful than most Thai beers (even if it is less approachable).

I'll confess that I'm not an ESB guy, but this was quite good. It was a clear amber color in a glass with a strong head and disappeared slowly. Lots of carbonation, but not too much. Lots of hops, of course, with lesser flavors of malts. All in all a great beer.
