Bottle poured into pint glass; modest carbonation with slight head. Hazy brown, tea colored. Malts, yeast and slight hint of caramel. Medium body with slight bitterness. Overall a nice brew.

Biloxi Back Bay ESB has a medium-to-thick off-white head, a semi-hazy, orange-copper appearance, with lots of powdery sediment and some rather big tan yeast chunks, roiling about. Lacing is minimal. The aroma is of orange peel, yeast, sourdough, light brown bread crust, and nut oils. Taste is of all that, with mild bitterness, a slight cream cheese cake icing, nuts, and some tannin. Mouthfeel is medium and soft, and Back Bay ESB finishes medium dry and delicious.

Purchased in Laurel, MS.
Pours hazy tea like color with a decent off white head that has some decent side glass lace and solid retention.
Smell: I get some sweet caramel and some bread malts.
Taste: Pretty sweet up front, molasses, caramel, vanilla, faint coffee, malt breads.
Drying at finish but would not say bitter.
Overall, not a style I am that I am versed in, and not the bitter typical for this style. Pretty good session.

"Our Back Bay ESB is a moderate, well balanced English style ale with a mild dry bitter finish. A couple of sips and you're immersed in the flavors of an ale that might have been consumed back in a time when the union jack flew over our shores (1763-1779) all in all. Our back Bay ESB is a great beer, so take the time to sit back and enjoy. You won't be disappointed that you picked up this one!" Brewed in the style of an English ESB. Available in 12 oz. 6 pack bottles and on year round draft.
(Appearance) Pours a creamy frothed head of an off white color over a medium hazy copper amber body. Moderate carbonation. Retention is average and lacing is light and patchy. 3.75
(Smell) Light bread malts with a mild sweetness, delicate graininess. Potency is moderate. 3.75
(Taste) Much of the aroma, despite a more reserved sweetness and a slightly sharper body. Bread malts with a dry delivery, finishing grainy and nutty. Light yeast notes of fruit, very drying still. A bit less balanced than the aroma suggested it would be. 3.25
(Mouthfeel) Texture is silky, smooth, briskly dry. Carbonation is moderate for the style, generating a moderate frothiness with a standard crisp finish. Body is medium for the style, shy of medium overall. Balance is slightly earthy and nutty bitter over sweet. Alcohol presence is mild and there are no off characters. 3.5
(Overall) This was an alright example of an ESB, but nothing exceptional. I think that the dryness is a bit sharp for the style. Drinkability isn't quite its strong suit, as the balance hasn't been met between the sweet and bitter characters in this beer. I've got another bottle by Biloxi Brewing, but this one was kind of forgettable, perhaps worth trying a single bottle if your local store breaks up a six pack. 3.5

Poured into a snifter.
A: Bronze, opaque, with an off-white one finger head that dissipates fast to medium bubbles.
S: Lager-ish with corn, grains and wheat.
T: Lightly bitter. Roasty, grainy. A bit soapy on the finish. Not too exciting.
M: Low to medium with medium carbonation.
O: Really not impressed with this one. Biloxi's ace is the Black Gold; I could drink that one all day.

Easy drinking malty taste. I'd drink it again.
