The perfect beer to welcome the spring and summer months. Delicious and refreshing with a satisfying fruit forward finish, this Lagered Ale was brewed with fresh strawberries.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From the Roundhouse Centre LCBO in nearby Windsor. My eighth beer from the Whitby, Ontario brewery, and second for 2025...

Muddy looking pink like grapefruit juice, good sized head without any staying power. Slightly fruity nose with some grain. Pretty gentle. Similar taste profile, Enough fruit to be tantalizing, a little funk. Average stuff.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for about $3.20 CDN.

Appearance - Ruby colored brew with good clarity and a small off-white head that fizzles out in a few minutes. Not a lot of visible carbonation.

Smell - Faintly smells of earhty and overripe strawberries, otherwise a light general graininess but nothing too aromatic,

Taste - Similar to the nose, thins strawberry flavor, light grainy qualities, possibly some bread and then a return to strawberries.

Mouthfeel - Thin bodied, medium-light carbonation. Easy enough to drink, but nothing interetsing to speak of.

Overall - Passable fruity lager, the strawberry does seem pretty natural and no off flavors or strange sweetness, but at the same time not something I'd wan't to have more than a single of.

Tallboy from the LCBO; no packaging date. Served slightly chilled.

Pours murky and opaque; orange-amber in colour, with maybe a bit of pinkish hue when held to the light. One finger of foamy, soapy white head settles off in less than two minutes' time, swiftly reduced to a tight collar and a few filmy islets on the surface. There's a messy smattering of lace, too - looks fine to me, albeit more like a fruit beer vs. lager(ed ale). The strawberry does come through on the nose, adding some fruity tartness and sweetness to an otherwise uninteresting aroma of grainy, bready pale malts.

It's a little bare bones, but the strawberry does taste authentic, which is a good start. There's a backdrop of bready pale malt sweetness, but other than that it's tart strawberry at first, with sweet strawberry dominating towards the finish before petering out quickly into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with light carbonation the gently tickles the palate, contributing to the brew's smooth, slightly soft mouthfeel. Easy to pour down the hatch - it's rare for me to drink any fruit beer one after another, but I think I'd be satisfied with a few of these, if I were thirsty enough.

Final Grade: 3.57, a B grade. Brock Street's Strawberry Blonde is a serviceable summer guzzler that makes competent use of its namesake fruit. I had low expectations going into this one, but had no real problems with it, and in fact found this beer to be surprisingly tasty, albeit one-dimensional. New strawberry beers do crop up once in a while, but I wouldn't say it's one of the most common choices amongst Ontario brewers - myself, I'd be hard-pressed to come up with a half dozen, let alone a full top ten, and I've been scouring shelves for at least a decade now. Brock Street's is no masterpiece, but it's a decent product that could carve out a niche.
