In documented mythology the creation of strawberries is attributed to the ancient Goddess Astarte, more commonly known by her Greek name Aphrodite. Legend says that upon the death of the mortal Adonis that the Goddess wept with such passion that her tears fell to the ground as small red hearts. We started with a traditional Cream Ale, light and crisp with a great mouthfeel...Then we added fresh strawberries to give it an incredible nose, and slight tart finish. With just the right amount of fruit to make it noticeable but not overpowering, this spring/summer seasonal is a perfect offering to the celestial mother of love.

Decanted from a 16 oz can into a conical pint: production date 6/9/17, just acquired from brewery today.
A: Pours a hazy straw to gold color with a slightly pink cast. Foamy half inch head dissipates to a rim very quickly. No lacing or legs evident.
S: Light malts overwhelm the floral note, which I cannot say is strawberry. Bouquet on the sour side. Update: on a third pour, definitely a strawberry note initially, but resolved quickly.
T: Again light malt with a sweet, but not fruity note, as well as stronger vegetable/mushroom notes. Update: on a third can, strawberry note present initially. Aftertaste remains reminiscent of that from actual strawberry wine, which is both sour and bitter (the latter from the pips).
M: Light bodied and lightly effervescent, but not crisp as one would expect from a cream ale.
O: Certainly a cream ale; only evidence of strawberries is in the the unpleasant aftertaste. Nice conceptually, but execution is the thing. I think of cream ales as light and crisp; strawberries seemed to create unexpected sourness and bitterness. Would not go back for this one.

I've had this on tap and from a can and there is big difference to me. Tap was smoother and tastier. Canned had a metallic quality to it. Maybe I just got a bad batch. Looking forward to having it on tap again.

On tap at Bonds Tavern in West Orange. Pours a hazy, effervescent hue with minimal frothing. Sweet, citrus aroma replete with hints of pear, apple, and grape. Loose mouthfeel.
