NOTE: HBFTW was known as South Loop Brewing Co. when this was released.
Canned 5/6/16; drank 5/8/16 @ the Yarchives (freshness alert!).
Semi-opaque yellow/orange appearance; champagne bubbles throughout.
A violent pour yielded a HUGE white head (careful pouring!); a curtain of frothy lace.
Coconut, pineapple & faint passionfruit notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Coconut & faint pineapple flavors up front; dry passionfruit notes on the finish. A great balancing act; the coconut & tropical citrus flavors meld nicely.
This would be heaven on a hot day...

I was looking forward to this one as it has tow of my favorite hops in it, Sabro and El Dorado. The smell was nice and tropical with plenty of coconut. The taste however was a bit lacking. It also seemed a little thin. It was a lower ABV than most of their beer.

16 ounce can into a Hop Butcher stemless teku glass. Canned 5/16/17, had 6/6/17.
Pours a somewhat clear, medium golden color, with a half inch head and some soapy lacing. Smells great on first pour- vivid orange, tangerine, and pineapple from the hops, yeast, light coconut- more as it warms. The taste also begins with the tropical hops- pineapple, tangerine, orange, light malt and yeast, light coconut. Medium hop bitterness through the middle. Smooth, a little creamy, a solid lighter body, well carbonated.
A great hop blend, and the aroma is awesome on the open. But both the flavor and aroma tail off through the can. Coconuts were strong in the aroma early, not all that present in the flavor (still watching?). Anyway, it’s still a good beer, maybe you’d get more coconut than me.

Can dated 5-16-17. DFH Tulip.
A: hazy gold with two fingers of bubbly white head that retains well and leaves heat lacing for thee plus months old.
S: tropical hops! Clean, pineapple, sweet, vague citrus. Really the pineapple is off the charts, supremely tropical in that respect, but no coconut.
T: palate follows the nose, very tropical, sweet, and refreshing.
M: lighter side of midweight, moderate carb. Surprisingly clean. Much lighter and cleaner than expected.
O: a really refreshing and tropical American pale!

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on June 11, 2017. Canned 0n 5/16/17. Look is hazy orange gold with a thick white head and lingering lacing. Smell is fruit, resin and hints of coconut. Taste is tropical fruit, bitter hops and a touch of coconut. Feel is creamy and smooth with a medium body. Recommended.

16oz tallboy can, sample from the brewery.
Good clarity with a killer looking head. Smells of fruit hop resin and mild coconut. Smooth with a moderate sized body, creamy malt backbone. Coconut flavor is mild but very noticeable, there is enough hop bitterness to balance but the tropical fruitiness from the hops really wins me over. I'm getting clear suggestions of Pina Colada. Very well balanced and the level of coconut really works here. Well done!!
