Served from the can in a mason jar.

Tropic Thunder shows what happens when method acting meets up with non-method acting in an emotional scene. Wild. Anyway, this stuff pours a hazy Sunny D topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises candied orange peel, peach, mild grass, and light pine needles. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a vanilla-leaning cream character slithering through the background. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a juicy feel. Overall, a rather tasty bit o' haze, pretty much par for the Hop Butcher course.

Pours a muddy orange-gold, totally opaque. Nose is all citra/cat pee. Very low carbonation. Taste has a nice bitterness up front with generic ripe tropical fruit, but it yeilds to a boozy taste. Feels heavier than 7.5%. A good beer, as always, from HB, but not my favorite.

Solid. Hazy golden body, big herbal and citrus notes. Damp herbal and floral all the way, medium caramel backbone but undoubtedly hop forward. Medium body, good carbonation, resinous herbal bite on the finish. Initially underwhelming but pops after a few

Nose is light citrus and pine, vanilla when it warms. Smooth and creamy texture, just incredible mouthfeels. I get bitterness almost immediately but it softens a bit and lingers. Some very minimal tropical notes. This is a fave HB of mine for sure. Well done!

Pours a hazy green, with a perfect, one end finger, creamy, white head.
I wonderful smell of candied citrus hop and malt.
Incredible candied hop presence with citrus as well as melon and softer fruit. Some spice and slight dank. Also detect vanilla.
Incredible soft mouthfeel.

Canning date is rubbed off but came out last Thursday

Consumed 6/29/21

I've always thought this is one of HB's best DIPAs which is very high praise indeed. Drinking the latest batch, I've dropped the smell a bit to 4.25 but everything else is world class for me. It is so soft and full in mouthfeel with the perfect sweet to bitter balance. Like a lot of Midwest beers, it's a bit sweeter for a hazy than other ones in other parts of the country. But this isn't too sweet overall. There isn't anything mindblowingly new here. It's just a classic midwest hazy. Don't ever pass on this one.

L - 1-finger super-dense, bright white head atop a milky yellow body.

S - very earthy nose. A little herb, not much citrus.

T - dirt-encrusted tropical fruits. Melon, orange, sweet papaya, pineapple, coconut. The earthiness from the nose persists throughout the sip, and is paired with an ever-present bitter bite. Moderate bitterness. Moderate-low sweetness. Low booziness.

F - full bodied for an ipa, with lower than usual carb.

O - still not sold on Sabro, but this is the best use of the hop that I’ve tried.

4/23/19 (Chicago): $4.16 plus tax single 16 oz can canned 4/15/19 purchased at Beer on the Wall poured into standard pint glass. Orange juice pour, light white head leaves razor thin white lacing. Light sweet citrus aroma, and taste, tangy tasting backed by grassy pine. Thin mouth feel, light carbonation., easy drinking. Overall solid offering.

Canned 4/15/19; drank 4/23/19 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque dull yellow/orange appearance.

A violent pour yielded a big eggshell head; strong, frothy tree-rung lace.

Guava, spring water, mild orange citrus & faint pine notes in the nose.

Soft, medium mouthfeel.

Guava, pineapple & spring water flavors up front; mild pine & faint dry grass notes on the finish. Mild booze heat emerged as this warmed.

Mouthfeel is excellent; it's fruity but a bit too dry/pine-y for me to crown it's ass. Well above average, though...

16oz can, date stamped "01/09/19 NEON DEION". Opaque dull orange-yellow body with a tall & creamy off-white head. Juicy & tropical aroma hinting at papaya, passion fruit, kumquat, and grapefruit. Modestly bitter with big juicy hop flavors of the above mentioned fruits. Creamy and smooth full body, slightly resinous, finishes bittersweet with a bit of tangy citrus. Great flavors and aroma with this one!

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on January 15, 2019. Brewed with Citra and Sabro hops. Nice thick haze, juicy fruit flavors and a smooth creamy finish.

Had on tap. Best dipa of 2019 so far! Love the sabro hops, hope to have more ipas used them in the future. Smell is full of dank hops and a luxurious bouquet of tropical and other fruit: pineapple, papaya, passion fruit, guava, mango, orange, and melon. Taste features the dank hops up front, then waves of juicy fruit, and then a finish marked by coconut and fruit sweetness, pine, and lingering acidity. Feel is pretty bright, little thin, and slightly acidic, but very smooth and refreshing

Hazy golden yellow pour with a finger of white head.
Smells of citrus, peach, general tropical notes.
Taste is great, tangerine, peach, tropical notes, a touch of dank. Initially I got a bit of strawberry but couldn't find it after it started to warm. A touch sweet but not overly so.
The feel on this one is great. Full bodied, creamy, super smooth.
Overall an exceptional beer! My first from Hop Butcher hopefully won't be my last.

Had this from a can that was canned a week before. The a hazy orangeish color with a small head. The aroma was tropical. Coconut, tangerine, some peach and maybe some vanilla. The taste was tropical and smooth. It was a little sweet but not overly sweet. The mouthfeel was creamy and smooth. Overall this was an awesome beer, I loved the flavor combinations. I really like a lot of Hop Butchers stuff but this one is at the top of the list.

Can dated 1/9/19, "KETCHUP?". Pours hazy yellow orange. Lacing is good. Aroma is sweet, almost vanilla-like. Melon and tangerine. Unique aroma that is pretty nice. Flavor is sweet tropical fruit. Some of their beers finish a bit too sugary sweet for me, but this one does not, although it is on the sweeter side. There's an almost coconut oil-like finish to it that I'm enjoying. Creamy texture. Lingering, drying bitterness. This one is quite good.

*EDIT* Drinking another can a week later and seems to be oxidizing quick. Color is starting to turn gray and the aroma and flavor are fading quick. It's starting to pick up that oxidized NEIPA flavor/aroma (cardboard, in this case). Wish I would have drank the 4 pack quicker. Usually their beers stay fresher for longer in the can. To me, this one did not have staying power, although it tasted great when extremely fresh.
