16 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 10/19/21, had 1/24/22.

Pours a dark, ruddy amber, cloudy, with a two and a half inch head of spongy foam with great retention and lots of thick, foamy lacing. Nice looking. Aromas of malt, pine, caramel, grapefruit as it warms. The flavors are about the same- pine, malt, some caramel, some grapefruit- especially on the finish and in the aftertaste. Has a light hop bitterness throughout. Smooth, a good lighter medium body, well carbonated.

A fine example of an Imperial Red Ale, scarce as they may be. Nicely balanced between the hops and malt. It could maybe be a touch maltier, but it works as it is.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a dark red/light brown with light tan head. Quickly dissipates with little lacing.

Nose: Really nice mix of malty notes and hop bitterness. Toffee, lime peel, a nice floral note, resin, and a bit of grapefruit.

Taste: Wow - super smooth. Very malty - toffee and a bit of chocolate. The hoppy bite comes through on the back end. Pine, grapefruit, Cutie oranges, vanilla, and wheat. Really enjoyable.

Mouthfeel and overall: Mouthfeel is light and dry. Overall, a really nice red ale!

Received from @fbarber in the NBS BIF #14. Canning date is not legible but the beer was added by Frank to the BA database on 10/15/2021 so I'm assuming that approximates the release date. Poured into a shaker glass. It pours an orange-brown color similar to iced tea with a small, creamy, khaki-colored cap and thin film of lacing. Lots of caramel/toffee on the nose along with lemon, grapefruit, and lite pine needles. The taste opens with more soft caramel sweetness than, for example, Celebration but the initial sweetness is well-balanced by the earthy, herbal, bitter bite of the Amarillo and Chinook hops. The Chinook also provides a good dose of resinous pine. As it warms a bit I'm tasting a hint of red berry which I assume comes from the Mosaic hops. The flavor palate is fairly complex. I like that the hop bitterness doesn't overwhelm the caramel malt and fruit. This ale has a good, creamy mouth feel with a good level of carbonation and the 8% ABV gives it good substance without overpowering. Overall, Red IPA is one of my favorite styles and this is a very good example.

16oz can served in a big snifter. Dated 10/19/21. Received from @FBarber in a sneak attack associated with NBS BIF #14.

Pours a reddish brown with a medium sized head that collapses into a spotty layer with moderate lacing. Somewhat hazy (murky might be a better word). Smell is caramel and toffee and hops.

Taste is a nice blend of red ale sweetness -- toffee and raisins and caramel sauce -- with hoppy bitterness -- pine and grapefruit zest.

Mouthfeel is medium tending toward heavy, moderately still. Overall, I'm enjoying it. Makes me think a little of Lagunitas Imperial Red from way back in the day.

Canned 10/19/21; drank 10/24/21 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy orange rust appearance.

Fresh soap, pine, sweet corn & booze heat notes in the nose.

Medium thick, sticky mouthfeel.

Fresh soap, pine, grapefruit & sweet corn flavors up front; grapefruit & booze heat notes on the finish.

A bit abrasive; it's interesting but not something I'd return to.
