Nelson Sauvin & Sabro- hopped India Pale Ale.
Notes from the brewers on sensory for A Plume of Many Hues elicited "lemon meringue pie with a side of coconut milk," which if we're being honest, makes us equally hungry AND thirsty.

Got in a BIF from FBarber. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, unreadable can dating. Pours turbid golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing and moderate streaming carbonation on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, orange peel/rind, pear, apple, grape, melon, berries, peppercorn, pine, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, woody, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/grainy malt, and sticky/oily/resinous hop mouthfeel. Long drying resin finish, with minimal astringency. Great balance of juicy and dank hops with a nicely soft malt backbone. Mild warmth and hop burn of 7%. Great Nelson forward showcase with Sabro. Loved it.

(16 oz can, PKG 03/28/22; purchased 4-pack off the shelf at Bella Vista... decanted/poured into a teku)
L: pleasant, pale pineapple-yellow liquid, impenetrable haze; highly-charged, high-climbing, exploded, yellow-tinged off-white foam, clinging but breaking apart from within... the dregs include some booger-ish chunks of yeast/grain powder(?); big crusty lace ring at the top, but hardly a collar or below ring-line lacing to speak of
S: fruit cocktail, pineapple juice, hint of chlorophyll; overall tiki character, with some subtle grain toast dotting the aromas... overall intensity moderate; soft alcohol accent; quite inviting
T: oh yes, wow! that's different... sort of a Sorachi Ace-like coconut-citrus note heavy in the fore... aftertaste has a (dairy) creamy, sure lemon meringue flavor (they were pretty dead on)... requisite floral greenness highlighting the tropical tart residuals; mild-moderate bitterness agitated, enlivened by the ethanol
F: alcohol is at my ideal level as far as comforting warmth, accentuating the bitter bite... never nectar-thick, attenuated by the booze or by design, lending little shape, sporting thin viscosity... talking hefeweizen territory; has presence, but floats above the palate
O: well, dang... I don't believe I've had many (if any) Sabro beers, and few (if any) Nelson Sauvin jawns, but what a fantastic combo!... definitely not the typical, hackneyed NEIPA flavor profile, and thank heavens!... my friend bought this based solely on how attractive the can art was to her; she's never had a NEIPA, but I think she'll dig this (1909)

Canned 3/28/22; drank 4/2/22 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque dull yellow-orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a huge off-white head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.
Sweet grapefruit, banana & yeast funk notes in the nose.
Soft, medium mouthfeel.
Grapefruit, table sugar & yeast funk bite; this tasted like a NE IPA / Saison hybrid that will please fans of neither.
The can says brewed in Bedford Park, but I think this is may be a batch from the new Lincoln Ave location and they haven't dialed things in yet. Regardless, a misfire.
