Appearance: beautiful. Yellow and completely hazy – so hazy as not to be transparent. The appearance reminds me of Heady Topper. Minimal head retention.
Aroma: pine, melon and light wet-earth aromatics. Wonderful.
Flavor: in alignment with the nose: pine, melon and honeysuckle. Very slight funk from the wild yeast. Very light malt flavor, but mostly just hops.
Mouthfeel: nothing spectacular, but no shortcomings either.
Overall: very good. Quite impressive, and far better than many of the other “feral” IPAs available. This is definitely worthwhile, and one I’ll try repeatedly. You wouldn’t seek out this beer necessarily, but I would order it before some of Black Project’s other beers.

this is their ipa of sorts, sour ipa, or wild rather, not overly either though, and nicely hopped. looks like they are doing several different single hopped versions. they had the el dorado on while i was there, and it was excellent. the yeast in this one is actually kind of the least exciting element of it. intead, the hops are all fruity and forward and insane, especially in the aroma, a greeat capture of the lime and pineapple notes this hop posesses. mostly clear too, golden and heady, cleaner and brighter than any other beer i have had from these guys, and clean in the finish too, not a lot of hop bitterness and less leftover bretty funk than others. simple beer really, but beautifully proportioned and very easy drinking. just a bit of tang and rustic funk to this, more of a sessionable big gulp wild beer than something slow and evolving over time. id like to see a nelson version, maybe a sorachi ace version, some of those rea distinct fruity hops would also be awesome. cool to see el dorado in this wild ipa context.

L: Hazy yellow pink color with a small white head and no lacing on the glass.
S: Lots of fruit from the tropical hops, some pine and Sourness, unfortunately i also get a strong note of diaceytl in the nose.
T: Brett and some Sourness a slight bitterness and fruit. Notes of diaceytl.
F: Lighter body and not as high carbonation as some sours.
O: Not a bad beer, but the notes of diaceytl killed it for me a bit, Black Project has many other better beers.
