this is a cool beer, but a little raw, and honestly hard to drink a whole one. its milky and thick pale orange, aroma is bursting with juicy ripe fresh passion fruit, tart and sweet alike, fully tropical and really beautiful. its almost too much in the flavor though, more intense than the souring critters in here can compete with, and while there is some acidity, the fruit is almost like a pulpy puree, overdosed and dense to the point of blocking out other elements. it reminds me of frozen orange juice concentrate or something, in need of being diluted, good, but just too much. the salt element is high here too which is cool, the briney element helps bring out some of the pucker and funk, its just odd that its sweet and thick. gose is generally a rather refreshing style, and this is anything but. its a great picture of passion fruit in beer, that flavor is perfect to the fruit, but it comes at the expense of the beer i think. proportions are off but the idea is good. i expect this one to be scaled back a bit, cleaned up, and refined in future batches. its not far off from being awesome...
edit: they did an apricot and blood orange version of this that was a ten times better beer, perfectly balanced with the two fruits, and insanely flavorful and unique. this gives me a new perspective on the base beer. i dug the other version so much more!
