The grapefruit aroma and flavor on this are really well executed, tastes almost like grapefruit juice. This would be a perfect brunch beer and one I would easily order again. Nice beer.

this must be a series they are still dialing in. i thought the mango one was way too fruity, it almost wasnt even beer, and i think this grapefruit one is way too sour. its caustic on the teeth and tongue, and even a small glass is enough to turn the belly a little bit. it seems far less refined than their best beers, and like the lacto ran away with this batch a little bit. it could also be played up in acidity by the grapefruit, which tastes fresh and natural but also pretty sour itself, bitter and zesty, pithy and sharp. the combination of the fruit with the bacterial souring is a lot, and only the true acid heads will think its an appropriate ph. salty too, minerals and brine and tang for a long finish despite a lack of residual sugar. wheaty and sort of raw tasting on the grain side, a little sloppy even. this one was over the top and not as polished as their best beers in my opinion, and less acidity would make it a much more pleasant and drinkable brew. i think this is the first black project beer that was too sour for me...

edit: better in later batches, straight grapefruit juice on the nose, less sour, more balanced, still a bit flat, they really need to ramp up the carbonation on their drafts...
