Drank from a 750ml (1 pt. 9.4 fl oz) bottle purchased at Craft Beer Cellar, Belmont, MA
Bottled on: JUL 04 2017
Served in a tulip

Beautiful appearance. The beer poured an orangey mauve color and nearly crystal clear. A frothy, inch-tall, bone white crown topped the liquid and slowly fell to a medium collar. Thick streaks of lacing trickled down the glass after the first few sips, but the lacing soon vanished. On the second pour, the body looked fairly cloudy.

The nose was amazingly fruity and bright. Strawberry notes came through big time. Really fresh and pure. Loads of ripe guava too. Fairly sweet. Moderate amount of crisp, bretty tartness and funk. Slightly acidic. There was a bit of a plastic-like quality as well. On the second pour, peach/apricot notes were also apparent.

The flavor was solid but less fruit forward and more sour and acidic than the nose. Strawberry notes came through big here too, but they reminded me of the tart, off-season varietals. Crisp and somewhat lemony in the center. Quite acidic. More lingering tartness and acidity on the back end and in the finish. Underripe peach/apricot notes were detectable after the swallow. Hint of dry oakiness too.

The mouthfeel medium bodied for the style. Light and fluffy. The liquid contained a zippy, fairly aggressive effervescence that frothed up nicely on the palate.

Because Black Project suggests drinking their Roswell Series beers fresh (and this bottle was over a year old at the time of purchase), I am assuming that the fruits had faded significantly by the time I drank this. That said, it was still pretty amazing. I can only imagine how good this beer must have been right out of the gate.
