this is a really neat brew, a coffee wild beer featuring a wonderful ethiopian java called qore, roasted down the street at corvus, one of the best in the game. i remember their first coffee wild beer, lunex i think it was called, absolutely life changing amazing, so i was stoked to see them playing around with coffee again, and to continue sourcing it from corvus. this one has a little vanilla in it too, which i think is cool to accent certain elements in the coffee, but the vanilla is the first thing i smell, and it gives the beer a bit of a desserty complexion overall, despite the acidity here. i love this coffee, its got dried berry and cocoa characteristics, both of which work wonderfully well with the vanilla. the base sour seems kind of simple, less bretty and oaky than some others they do, so the acidity seems to stand out more. there may also be some acidity from the coffee here too, its quite piquant but not harsh on the palate or the stomach at all. i get some deep chocolate and even smoke hints here, bizarre for such a bright blonde beer, its messing with my senses but its awesome. some toasted almond and amaretto, caramel, and yellow cake here too, but this isnt sweet. overall a really interesting beer, not quite as monumental as the lunex was, but a great beer and a series i hope to see carry on! definitely some of the most unique black project beer to date!
