sour wheat beer aged in gin barrels here. i was hoping for a lot more gin, and while it is obvious, its also not all that intense, its fragrant more than it is flavorful, and the gin itself selected seems pretty run of the mill, old school style, less bright and fresh and botanical and nuanced than the kind of american craft gins i have grown fond of, and which have yielded some amazingly complex beers. that said, its cool to see these guys doing something a little different, its been awhile since i had a black project beer without fruit. the juniper part is obvious, piney and wintery, and the oak is too, softening some of the acidity thankfully, man these beers have all been so sour lately! fluffy feeling though and fuller, all wheat is cool, and it has a great taste with the gin, rightly earthy and a needed grounding element next to the gin. somewhat subtle overall, but a cool beer, im sure we will see more in gin barrels from these guys. i wish it wasnt quite so acidic, but i really did enjoy this one.
