second use blackberries and rosemary in this one, i love the combination, but fresh blackberries would be better, these seem to give it some color but not a ton of flavor, a little berry sweetness in the middle, but its too faint to stand up to even the modest rosemary, so the potential is here, but not quite realized this time around, at least in my opinion. that said, its a nice use of the rosemary, fresh and wintery, piney and obvious, surprisingly compatible with the citrusy acidity here. i think i have started to not be so impressed with the black project culture, like, this is overly sour and not very interesting, its definitely changed overtime, but im not sure this as a base beer should continue to be the foundation of everything they make, its just not as complex as it should be, a lot more acid than funk, bacterial almost kettle sour tasting at this point, like the brett has been competed right out of it. still delicious, but to put this up there with the best wild beers in the game is farcical. on top of that, the execution just isnt quite there, a little raw, overly acidic, oddly heavy for what it is, and not bubbly enough. the mouthfeel seems amateur while the flavors are very good. if they did this again, and used fresh berries, let a brett element work its way back into the mix, and carbonated it up properly, this would be dynamite, but then of course it would be a totally different beer...
