Presentation draft, served in a tulip glass.
Appearance: The half finger head goes away fairly quickly and it leaves some lacing in small spots here and there. It's a bright, hazy, ruby red color.
Smell: There's definitely some funky aromas and a lot of fresh raspberry. It finishes with woodsy, earthy and damp oak and moss notes.
Taste: It's definitely the highlight of this beer. The tart, fruity and bright raspberry and pomegranate flavors hit the palate first with a mild acidity and then it transitions to more filling warmer and grainier flavors of wheat and humid wood.
Mouthfeel: It's light enough so as to not get too cloying (it does get a bit cloying, as expected, due to the raw fruitiness though) or overwhelm the palate, but it has substance to it. It's quite pleasant and refreshing and the carbonation is medium.
Overall: An incredible beer overall with a complex and absolutely fantastic taste. The smell and texture are great too. Black Project is definitely at the forefront of the rapidly growing spontaneously fermented beer movement in Colorado.
