1st review of this beer on BA. Consumed at the source in June 2019. Strawberry wild ale.
Pours a color more indicative of 'normal' beer, as opposed to something with strawberries. Was expecting more pink and red influence, but nah dog, we're in the land of yellow and light copper up in here. 1/3" white head. Aroma was lactose and strawberries.
Taste was much the same, more tame, less sour, sweeter than almost any Black Project beer I've ever had. The strawberry was present, the wheat contribution to the base gave it some levity, but for me, I was over it quicker than expected, would have liked more sourness and tartness, the lactose is almost never a positive contribution for me, and here it kinda went down that milkshake ipa like path, but instead, leaned towards a light milkshake wild ale feel, which seems counterproductive in this style as much in the aforementioned.
Given the expensive nature of their beers, this one has to rate as disappointing. If it were in the average price range, it would be an average outcome. Strawberry is an elusive fruit relative to great beer.
