473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Aug 18 2021 and served slightly chilled. Happy Canada Day!

Pours a clear straw yellow colour, topped with an inch of puffy, soapy white head that lingers for nearly five minutes. It leaves behind a frothy collar and filmy cap, with a delicate doily pattern of lace adorning the glass - more attractive than your average radler, I'd say. It smells of lemon zest, grainy malts and raspberries; not especially aromatic, but I like it.

It's a pretty decent radler - sugary pink lemonade at the forefront, with hints of raspberry, lemon zest and wheaty malt somewhat less discernible. Raspberry persists through the finish, with suggestions of raspberry seed and lemon pithiness dissipating into the aftertaste. Light in body, with a soft, fluffy texture and middling carbonation that doesn't have much bite; very sessionable, and highly thirst quenching.

Final Grade: 3.75, eking out a B+. I don't know if Russell's Lemon Raz Radler is the best lemonade radler I've ever had, but it's a darn good one, I'll say that. Fairly sweet, but not at all syrupy and/or cloying - and even more importantly, the fruit flavours do not come off as artificial in the least. Would love to try this fresh, but who knows if the LCBO will bring it in again.

Clear pale-straw color. Poured with a short head that collapsed down to a skiff across the surface in half a minute. Medium flow of tiny and small bubbles from the bottom of the glass. Left no lacing.

Dominant smell is of fresh, not cooked, raspberries. Very faint malt filling in the background. Swirling the glass kicked up a light barnyard that was very quickly replaced by sweet raspberries.

The flavor starts off with a fresh baked bread including a touch of yeast. Some light lemon kicks in followed by a light raspberry. Slightly tart and slightly sweet. Very nice balance. The malt picks back up as it warms up. The aftertaste is dominated by sweet lemon while the other flavors slowly fade away. A light bitter shows up at the end.

Light tongue tingling, more like a soft drink than a beer. Never really turns into a strong foam. Has a medium-light body that feels heavier than I expected in a light radler. Very slight astringency as part of the aftertaste.

This has a light touch for the lemon and raspberry, and thankfully neither of them has an artificial or super concentrated taste. Raspberry is usually cooked to the point of tasting burned, but this tasted fresh. It was like having a light ale with a twist of lemon and some fresh raspberries from the garden dropped into it. Well done.
