The can pours a murky brown with a 1 cm tan-colored foam cap.
The aroma does hint of saison yeast and a bit of dark fruit.
The flavor is pleasant with some fig and saison notes present but this is largely a sweet mash-up with little similarity to saison style brews.
The high ABV is noted in the finish as is some over carbonation.
I like oerbiers. That may have been a better target for the brewer.

Different is good to try, but not necessarily to repeat. Bending a style can be interesting, but not necessarily good.
Bought two Shivers from Beer Drop. While glad I tried the first as it was interesting, I'm unlikely to drink the second.
Based on the 321 Check-ins on UnTappd, this could be a re-release. If so, the first must have been interesting indeed.

Shiver Looks interestingly opaque and has a huge foam replaced by active protein swirls. But Smells surprisingly lack enough of either winter's dark fruits or the saison's three season fruits. Tastes are balanced, until the finish which is, well, hard to describe. I'll be charitable and say it is flawed. While the finish doesn't ruin the brew for me, it may for others. Medium-mouthed, but I can't forget that finish. Shiver is at least one experiment too many on a flexible style.

Only my third unique from DUBCO, my review of the first in 2020 said they needed to work on their website and indicate why they brew. Four years later, I see a sophisticated site but am still looking for clues to their motivations outside of the ordinary. If they had that, maybe Shiver might be an experiment that could be improved on.
