There were some similar banana beers at Strange brew 2018 this year, this is one of them, the other was a brown ale/hefeweizen blend. That one was more in line with revealing traditional style notes compared to this one (a saison).
Pours a darker yellow color, 1/5" white head. Aroma given off was definitely bananas, and then vanilla to a lesser extent. The saison yeast/base/wheat anything like that was completely off the radar in the nose. You just got all the banana and sweetness (kind of the antithesis of a saison no?) up front in the nose.
Taste, again, a little more of the lactose (sweetness) and vanilla as the supporting cast for banana. Shit, now I have that stupid Gwen Stefani bananas soundbite in my head. The problem with this beer is that it had like, nothing comparable to a traditional saison at all, beyond maybe the color. Just had nothing rustic farmyard wheat brett or even tart going for it. Just was a generic base beer with some bananas, lactose and vanilla to it. All adjunct pushing weight.
