Point of Divergence is a 10.5% Imperial Stout that exemplifies our goal to diverge from the norm. It was fermented entirely with Italian Red Wine Yeast and aged for almost a year in bourbon, red wine, and white wine barrels. The barrels were blended together to create an immensely complex and unique Imperial Stout.

I am sampling a cellar temp 2022 vintage of this beer. The beer pours a dark black coffee color with a tan creamy head of almost 1 cm. this foam fades slowly , but remains a sturdy surface covering, and also leaves some scattered lattice when I take a sip or swirl the glass.
Aroma is dark chocolate and fudge with some bourbon and spicy pepper fusol notes. Definitely slightly boozy nose. I dont get any hops on this beer at all.
First sip reveals a medium to thicker body with fine and gentle rolling carbonation. The texture is very smooth but does also do some light coating to my palate.
Flavor is similar to the nose with dark chocolate, fudge brownie, some lightly sweet bourbon and hints of pipe tobacco. There is some warming booze on the finish and again no hop character on this beer.
Im glad I got to try this one as it is a straight forward barrel aged imperial stout that checks off the boxes for the style. Id buy this one again.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a short tan head that quickly settled down, leaving a minuscule collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of bourbon from the barrel aging are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional flavors of chocolate with hints of red wine.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a unique stout that combines flavors of bourbon and red wine. It doesn't feel nearly as heavy as for what I would have expected for a beer that is 10.5% abv.
Note: 2020 vintage

Pours a pitch black color with one finger of dark tan head and moderate carbonation evident. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, smokey malts, earthy malts, dark fruity malts, and light coffee. Medium to full body and low to moderate carbonation.

2017. poured into tulip glass. It pours virtually black with dark walnut hues, and the ecru-colored head and lacing dissipated quickly. The nose is really basic: roasted malt, bourbon, chocolate, red wine, and dark cherry. The barrel is really strong in the taste, along with roasted malt, chocolate, and fairly sour dark fruit. There's not much carbonation and the 10.5% ABV cannot be avoided. Overall, this is a well-crafted and enjoyable barrel-aged imperial stout.

Traded for this beer fairly recently and got around to it on this cold night. This was the first big bottle that I had from Magnify and since it was a Stout, it was quite different from what I was used to having from them. Not great nor bad, this looked, tasted, and felt relatively typical but since the alcohol was well-hidden, it was easy to enjoy this on a cold night such as this!
Took a little while to get the black wax off of the top as it was quite thick, to the point where the liquid in the bottle seemed to come out quite a bit thinner! Nice hue to this as it was quite dark with some garnet around the extreme edges and a tan, bubbly head on top. A moderate aroma of chocolate and dark fruit was found here with just a hint of booze and woody red wine. To the taste, this was balanced out as the former two flavors were what I picked up along with a moderate body and carbonation. Almost felt like there were oats in this since that's how full this turned out to be as I was hoping for more wood and wine to give this a funkier taste.
At least this wasn't dripping with alcohol as I didn't detect much on my breath once I finished this off. The light amount of nuance here and harmony between the chocolate, plum, and cherry ensured that this would be a smooth sipper. Not a bad attempt on Magnify's part!

Pours deep black with mere wisps of mocha brown head. Aroma has oaky, yeasty red wine, chocolate, dark fruits, and black licorice. Taste is much more subdued than the aroma, with less of the wine notes and more chocolate and dark fruits and a touch of alcohol in the finish. Medium-full body with low-moderate carbonation. Overall I enjoyed this beer. The wine yeast and barrels made for a unique stout.

Dark black color with a thin tan head. Roasty chocolate and caramel with bits of earth and dark pitted fruit to counter. somewhat strong alcohol notes.
