Picked this up last year at Magnify and finally got around to it tonight, as I'm starting to get through my backlog of beers from them. Haven't had too many offerings with Michigan Copper hops in them but this was one of the few brews that I got my hands on that had that featured in it. While not a bad beer, I didn't detect too much of those in the nose as much as the taste, along with a few other odd flavors that didn't quite mesh with it. Sure, this was smooth, but not terribly tasty as it wasn't among one of the better offerings that I've had from them.
Not a great nor bad pour to this as the beer was cloudy, muddled goldenrod with a dull look to it. Just a few floaties could be seen as I poured this out but this never looked old or skunked in appearance, even after settling down. Plenty of head could be seen and the lacing was scattered but prevalent enough to be on par with this beer's other attributes. Some Hawaiian Punch, tropical notes, and dank pine came through in the muted nose along with grass, urine (yes, I said it), and Michigan Copper hops, which gave this quite an odd and somewhat unappealing aroma to this beer. A vegetal undertone really took hold as I sipped this, as I was expecting more of an earthy and metallic feel to this. The mouthfeel was balanced but not slick or appealing, as this felt too dank and underwhelming to ever get a hold on me...
There was enough booze in here for this to be potent but the warming effect was minimal as the odd range of notes was what stood out to me the most. Sure, I could have had this fresh but I doubt that would have made much of a difference. This was not a typical New England-style IPA from Magnify but the difference wasn't enough to win me over, in any way, shape, or form...

Pours an opaque but not hazy, vibrant orange in color with a finger of slightly rocky white head that leaves behind sporadic lacing. The aroma, or maybe just the name, hints at red tropical fruit punch but there is also a mix of resiny pine and a touch of caramel malt that reminds me of a West Coast IPA. Taste focuses on a lightly resiny pine flavor with some hints of the tropical fruit juice note from the aroma and a moderate bitterness. As this warms the pine note only becomes more prominent. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall a decent beer but it reminds me of a West Coast IPA which is not what I expect from Magnify.
