Picked this up when it was released at Magnify, finally getting around to it on this frigid night. While not a bad beer, this was too typical and unmemorable to stand out from the other offerings that I've had from these guys recently. Dank, pithy, and a bit heavy, this was beer that was quite Imperial not only in the amount of booze that it had, but in the taste and mouthfeel as well. If that's up your alley, then you've found the right brew for imbibing!

The pour to this was decent as it was quite muddled, with the straw hue being brightened by the light that seeped in around the edges. Enough head topped this off with some spotty lacing remaining around the edges as I sipped this. Tons of dank hops, tropical fruit, yeast, and fruit rind filled the nose as the heavy-handed nature of this beer hit me from the get-go. Much of that was present in the taste as well as the pineapple rind, leafy vegetable, and dank hopiness in the taste was enough to nearly overpower me. A strong alcoholic presence and recessed malt only enhanced the dank heavy profile of this beer as a bit of orange cream and citrus slickness saved this from being completely heavy-handed.

There was booze in here but the aftertaste of tangerine creamsicle and underlying dankness help to keep that in check. While not a bad beer, this was too dank and heavy for me to wholeheartedly espouse. So much rind was here that I ended up liking that instead of the liquid that was the bigger picture. The end result was a brew that was more than competent but not outstanding or noteworthy in any aspect. Give this a go if you like Magnify but for aficionados like me, there are better choices out there...

Sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Part of a trade with a local acquaintance who drove to the brewery recently.
The beer pours a hazy orange yellow color with a 1cm of dense bleached white foam. The foam fades to a thin edge layer and a large wispy island.
The aroma is hop dominant as expected with a mix of peach and mango with some good citrusy lemon and orange notes as well. A little bit of biscuity malt is buried in the nose and there is some general floral quality to this too.
First sip reveals a silky smooth creamy body and very fine tingly carbonation. Very smooth easy drinker on the physical traits.
Flavor is some fruity hops with citrusy lemon and orange coming through and again I get some peach. There is also a bit of pine sap and rindy bitterness on the finish after each swallow. I dont get any hint of the ABV, which further adds to the drinkability of this beer.
This is a nice DIPA and my second beer from Magnify. I like this one a little more than the previous and would definitely drink again if I was searching for a drinkable juicy DIPA.

Reviewed on release day. Poured into Magnify tulip glass. It pours an opaque, golden-tangerine color with a half finger of foamy, bright white head and lacing. There's lots of tart lemon on the nose, along with lactose, cracker, and floral, tropical hops. The taste is dominated by the interesting blend of Wai-iti, Topaz and Motueka hops. The lemon and tropical fruit is subdued, the hops are flavorful but not bitter, and there's a noticeable taste of pine needles and pepper at the finish without any yeast burn. I noticed that as the glass warms the fruit becomes more evident. It features a pleasantly creamy, silky mouth feel, with lively carbonation, and the 8% ABV gives it a nice pop. Overall, it's another quality DIPA from Magnify, which emphasizes a flavorful blend of hops over strong fruit.
