Impatiently Waiting is a 12% Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. This French Toast inspired Imperial Stout spent 15 months aging in bourbon barrels with maple syrup, cinnamon and coffee from our friends TOCA Coffee. The result is a complex unity of bold, sweet and rich flavors from the base beer and adjuncts, along with slight barrel character on the back end. This beer is meant to remind you of your favorite weekend breakfast.

On draught at the brewery one week after release. It pours a very dark walnut color with a thin, ecru-colored head and minimal lacing. I suspect the appearance would improve if poured from a can at closer to room temperature. It has a great nose: freshly-brewed coffee, chocolate, molasses, caramel, maple syrup, and tobacco. When first served the bourbon smell is strong but as the glass warms the booze aroma mellows. The bourbon is front and center in the taste; it's hot at first but, like the smell, it mellows as it warms. There's big cocoa and freshly-brewed coffee, along with leather, tobacco, cinnamon, and a hint of caramel. At the finish, the alcohol burn is strong. The flavors are all bold but they blend really nicely. This stout is moderately creamy with light carbonation, and you can really feel the 12% ABV. It's a hot stout, perfect for sipping. Overall, this is really well-done. The bourbon is flavorful but not overly distracting. I missed the can release and am waiting (impatiently) for Magnify to brew this again.

Another fantastic Stout from Magnify. This beer pours black as a Stout should. Not quite as thick as YYKM, nice and tasty. Enormous flavor and just a hint of booze. You get the bourbon but its nice and subtle. Well balanced and smooth.

Pours pitch black, impervious to light, nice reddish brown head foams up and quickly fizzled out. Aroma is faint at first. Let it warm and open up and it becomes amazing. Big and boozy, loads of chocolate and molasses, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, faint coffee. Loaded with flavor, first sip hits you with sweet maple, chocolate, and cinnamon. Swish it around a bit and you will coax out some coffee, vanilla, brown sugar, and dark fruit. Carbonation is a little too crisp, should be creamier. I feel it is medium bodied, not thin but I prefer this style really thick. On the finish, it feels like there is a bit of an artificial taste / coating on my tongue. It doesn't offend - just an observation. Overall this is an enjoyable beer and a fine example of the style. It was worth the hour drive each way and the hour wait in line this afternoon.

12/5/19. Update - saved one of these for later... amazingly, it still tastes the same - adjuncts are intact and did not fade. Impressive...
