10/05/18

Can to snifter. Can date=06/26/18. Flavored Stout Tasting.

Look: dark black, thick, medium ran head, Excellent retention.
Aroma: Touch of chocolate, but mostly maple. The maple is a star.

Taste: maple is not too sweet, just perfect. Vanilla and chocolate round it out nice. This is a fair comparison to Sunday Brunch.

Feel: medium to full body, touch flat,

This is a super beer. Best beer of a very good tasting.

7/27/18...pours pitch black, no foam, thick and still. Like motor oil. Heavy dark chocolate and espresso nose. Smoky and hints of vanilla marshmallow in the nose. Maple syrup bittered flavor to open. Thick mouthfeel. Coffee grinds. Boozy, the 12.5 hits in full force but in a sneaky way. Crazy concoction.

Canned 4 weeks ago

Poured at 50ish degrees into a snifter. The look is pitch black with a finger of tan head that fades into a ring. Good head retention for a high ABV dessert stout.

The nose is huge maple, coffee, and brownie batter. Hints of cherry liqueur and mildly hot alcohol.

The taste comes in waves. Opens with maple and coffee, then some booze/licorice/roast mid-palate, finishing with bittersweet chocolate.

The mouthfeel is fudge-y and medium+.

Overall, not quite as smooth as Yeah You Know Me but still pretty good. More of a sipper. This has a kick but is still approachable for the ABV.

Low carbonation, heavy thick body, overall a great feel. The coffee, maple, chocolate all show up fairly even with a nut like flavor following through in the finish. High abv is really well hidden but there's still some heat. Overall an excellent beer

Pours jet back with nice foamy head. Wonderful on the nose with Maple, coffee and nuts. The flavor is amazing and spot on as described. First hit is Maple, front and center. Then a light note of coffee and the nuts/lactose on the back end. Such a great Stout. Not boozy even at 12.5%. Smooth and wonderful. Def a beer to sip and enjoy slowly. Different than some Stouts in that the flavors stand out regardless of temp, no need to wait n let this one warm up, sip away. Magnify's Stout game is excellent, YYKM is their best and one of my all time favorites, this one is in that class as well. Different but just as enjoyable. Well done.

Reviewed one day after can release. Poured into Magnify tulip glass. It pours virtually black with more than a half finger of creamy, cafe au lait colored head and creamy lacing. It's an olafactory delight! Rich cocoa, maple syrup, freshly-brewed coffee, lactose, and nuts. The smells are big and bold. The taste is equally striking. The first thing I notice is the chocolate and maple syrup. There's also a distinct flavors of almond and lactose. All of the tastes are distinct but they blend really well. This stout is creamy, viscous, and chewy with light carbonation, and the 12.5% ABV isn't obvious at first but it creeps up on you. Overall, this stout is positively decadent with huge flavor and a great feel. Both Magnify and Sand City are adept at brewing big stouts and their combined skills are evident in this wonderful brew.
