a mexican lager with salt and lime zest, maybe done for cinco de mayo, a neat idea but really unrefined and amateurish to me, the execution just isnt there. i have no issue with the lime, which is natural and pungent, or with the salt, which is pretty bold here and adds a cool brine aspect and mineral profile to this, my critique is of the base beer, a malty and sloppy lager that tastes yeasty without tasting like lager yeast, have no crispness or dryness, and seemingly just off in the ferment entirely. its weighty in feel, close to still, and a little soapy in the residual to me, which is just a shame. if this was even a half decent base beer it would be entirely refreshing and delicious, but they got it wrong enough to not be any of that, which seems hard to do. disappointing, especially considering their jasmine green tea ipa i had right before this was so good, i had way higher hopes. a good thought on this one, but it just doesnt come together the way it should. cool that the salt is as forward as it is though...
