Hazy orange, murky, small head, minimal spotty lacing. Soft citrus aromas. Notes of grapefruit, cracker, and citrus salad. Light, crushable, soft and dry. This was ok, it's one that's being rated higher than it should by its fan base for sure. Too one dimensional.

Poured from 16 oz can into Veil House Glass. Canned 12/13/2016.

Appear: abt a solid finger worth of nice dense foam nice tight bubbles. pours a hazy light golden straw. Nice

Smell: Imagine jumping into a pool of grapefruit juice. and not necessarily ruby red grapfruit more just like regular TX grapefruits. it's a little overwhelming. I don't know that I can find any other notes. there might be some candied citrus and pith notes.

Taste: its like grapefruit juice and a little skim milk got mixed together. very acidic. there's some creamy notes but it's straight grapefruit juice. there is some resin or "green" notes going on in the mid palate but you gotta really search. after looking at other reviews I do note some cereal notes but you really gotta think abt it.

Mouth: pillowy nice but a little thin. not my favorite.

Over: If you like grapefruit IPAs you'll probably like this beer its a nice effort. I don't know that I've ever had Scuplin Grapefruit by Ballast or if I had it's been a while and it wasn't memorable. This is a nice beer and maybe to some it's world class or the best grapefruit IPA ever but it doesn't work for me. it's a little too thin and a little too acidic. I would not buy again.

Impressive IPA, especially considering I'm not often a fan of grapefruit-forward beers. Tangy and spicy, coats the palate in hop resins before the grapefruit takes over. Medium mouthfeel, a bit resinous. Insanely quaffable and does a good job maintaining balance throughout. A stand out amongst the Veil's very strong lineup of hoppy offerings.
