Pallbearer is a new, very special imperial stout. We specifically designed Pallbearer to be the thickest, richest, most complex imperial stout we could possibly create. We used the most malt we’ve ever brewed with for one beer, with the most complex blend of speciality/dark malts, and threw every trick in the book at it to produce the most viscous wort possible. We also designed this beer to spend an extended period of time in Kentucky Bourbon barrels. Pallbearer ended up spending 15 months in barrels. Clocking in at 13.5%, Pallbearer is packed with notes of brownie batter, Hershey Syrup, mocha latte, low proof bourbon, black strap molasses, brown sugar cubes, and maple candies.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a very small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells super chocolatey, dark and delicious, with molasses, vanilla, espresso shots, earthy maple, roasted malt, and tons of bourbon.

This is a barrel bomb in the absolute best way. The chocolatey and almost maple like sweetness of the base stout is transformed, with waves of spicy oak, leathery bourbon, earthy molasses, licorice, and tobacco. There’s brown sugar, roasted malt, and a really nice coffee flavor as well.

This is very thick, but not syrupy, luckily, with a lower level of carbonation. It’s less boozy than such a barrel bomb would seem like it should be.

This is absolutely fantastic, and proof that the Veil make excellent beer when they’re not being completely silly gooses.

The beer pours some dark brown and bubbly head that dissipates very quickly. There is still some head around the inside of the glass. The beer itself is an opaque dark chocolate brown and its texture resembles a delicious looking chocolate syrup.

The smell is good. It has strong fudge note with a bit of alcohol upfront and followed by a light mocha note. The smell then immediately transitions to a nice maple and bittersweet molasses note to finish it all up.

The taste is good. The beer starts off with a chocolate fudge covered in chocolate syrup with a light mocha in the finish. The bourbon note gives a sweet orange and caramel notes that blend well and deliciously with the chocolate notes.

The feel is good. It has a heavy body that feels like chocolate syrup and very little carbonation to it.

Overall, a delicious and indulgent beer worth having.

Thicc, chocolate, dark fruit (fig, raisin), and barrel. It’s easy to pick out the highlights on this beer. Always one to seek out if you can get your hands on it.

As part of a blind tasting. We ranked Pallbearer as #3 / 9. Mouthfeel was rich and thick and even a bit fluffy, and the flavor was Sweet though a bit tart from the dark malts. 4.5

You know how fountain sodas consist of a condensed syrup mixed with carbonated water? Imagine someone made a stout flavor of that syrup, and you drank that straight.

I'm always hunting down the biggest, booziest, thickest beers I could find, and finally found my limit. Like someone boiled beer down into beer sap, overwhelming punch of far too concentrated flavor with a real soy sauce thing going on. Definitely a hot mess.

a 4 oz. pour was 3 ounces too many for me, God rest those who solo a bottle

Received in a trade and shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a pitch black motor oil color.

S - Big aromas of sweet chocolate, big barrel, light malt sweetness, alcohol is hidden nicely, good chocolate too.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice roasted malts, dark chocolate, huge vanilla. Juicy bourbon, brown sugar, oak. Rather sweet though!

M - Mouthfeel is very nicely carbonated, silky, medium bodied, chewy. Alcohol hidden nicely!

O - Overall this was a very nice bourbon stout, albeit very sweet. Without that sweetness this would be much much better!

Thanks to rudzud
Pours like motor oil thick sludgey black beer, forced pour yields a mild fizzy creamy black head that doesn't retain very well, long legs

Nose is a bit smokey but big roasty and char, tons of dark chocolate and cocoa, plenty of barrel, vanilla and toasted oak with a little coconut, raw boozy bourbon, cocoa dust, little fudgey nougat and caramel notes

Taste thick fudgey cocoa and dark chocolate, a little candy caramel, some char and roast, a bit of bitterness from roasted malts and hops, so much chewy cocoa and fudge, nice rich bourbon, sweet bourbon candy, nice vanilla barrel, very sweet though, hard to get into it too much with all the sweetness, nice bourbony vanilla barrel, a little sticky with a touch of alcohol warmth

Mouth is incredible, thick lush creamy chewy, almost silky, very little alcohol, but maybe a touch more carbonation would be nicer compared to the super sweetness, only thing preventing the 5

Overall very good other than sweetness was a bit high
