Listed as an open fermented wine barrel aged lager, at an approachable 5.5% curiosity alone drove me to try this one.
From the can I get a coveted foamy pour, all creamy cloudy. The nose is estery, floral and expressive, with a subdued funk that carries through to the sip. There’s a long lasting finish to this interesting, intriguing beer that’s probably closer to a lagered saison than your run of the mill pilsner.

poured from a 750mL bottle (bottled June, 2022) into a veil willi becher pint glass. pours a beautiful slightly hazy yellow with two fingers of fluffy white foam. wonderful looking beer. aromas of white wine, honey, flowers, lemon and grass. both the smell and taste have the slightest hint of sourness to them but it’s very mild, making this incredibly drinkable. in the taste i get more dry oak in the finish. this is really good. right in my wheelhouse. hard to say “best of both worlds” (as far as farmhouse ale and lager are concerned) but definitely a solid take on a lager conditioned like a farmhouse. i dig it.

Received as a Christmas present from my daughter and her boyfriend. Bottle with cork and cap. Poured into a small nonic style glass.
Not to style for a lager but an interesting take. Should be classified as a wild ale. I still give it an overall of 4.0.
A – Pours a clear golden yellow with a white one-finger frothy head that is retained throughout the glass Well carbonated. Yeast at the bottom of the bottle. Wonderful lacing (+). 4.5
S – Aromas of funk, white wine, citrus, noble hops. A complex aroma for a lager. Not really to style (50/50). 4.0
T – Funk, tart, vinous-like, crackers underneath. 3.0
MF – A light bodied beer with a dry slightly sharp/crisp finish. 3.75

The beer pours a white and foamy head with a very creamy texture to it. The beer itself is a hazy metallic gold color that looks inviting.
The smell is delicious. It has a light funk that mixes well with the other notes in the beer. It isn't overly acidic or off putting but gives a nice accent to everything. The other notes include a light orange rind note with a good mineral smell as well.
The taste is good. It tends more towards the wine side of things with a wooden note in the finish and red grape note among the funk notes. The mineral water is still there but it isn't as noticeable. The bitterness is in the form of an orange note with a bit of grapefruit.
The feel is good. It has a medium to light body with a crisp texture and a bit of acidity to it. The finish is a bit dry.
Overall, this was a good beer worth drinking. The profile isn't overly complex but still manages to be interesting.

750ml bottle, no bottle date noticed, poured into a stemless wine glass.
The beer pours a cloudy and slightly hazy honey color, bright golden hues with some soft ambers with a finger of white head that has moderate retention and good lacing. The aroma is nice, lots of earthy funk, soft pale grain, mineral water, light citrus and citrus rind with a nice floral character. The flavors are good, earthy funk, lightly fruity and floral with some grassiness, citrus with pale grains and a light oakiness and mineral water. The mouthfeel is good, crisp, light body that coats well and has a nice liveliness and a lightly tart and zippy finish.
Verdict: A nice koelschip lager that offers a great funk profile and complex flavors that remains very drinkable and refreshing. A very pleasant sessionable beer from The Veil.

This one pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like funky stone fruit, grassy hops, vanilla, and breadiness.
This is honestly exceptional. There's a little of funky peach and vanilla on top of a clearly crisp and well made lager. There's a smooth grassy and herbal hop character and a soft bready maltiness. I could absolutely drink a lot of this.
This is light bodied, slightly creamy, and very crisp, with a great amount of drinkability.
This was a wonderful surprise - I wouldn't really expect the Veil to be this subtle and delicate.

Would not call this an American Lager.
More closely resembles a Wild Ale due to the open tank, but fermented in the lager-style.
