Collaboration with Angry Chair Brewing
Curse of Satisfaction is the second of the two beers we made with Angry Chair Brewing This one is a viscous dulce de leche imperial sweet stout with whole bean single origin Columbian coffee from Blanchard's Coffee Roasting Co. and Vietnamese cinnamon. We intentionally tried to make one of thickest stouts we could and we think we achieved just that.

Look - Classic imperial stout. Thick pour with little carbonation. Some remnants of spices.
Smell - Intense chocolate, bourbon, and cinnamon on the nose.
Taste - Really strong taste. Molasses and nutmeg linger. Very sweet beer. At first I was taken aback by it but as I drank it I liked it more. Has a oaky, chocolatey taste to finish. Definitely unique.
Feel - Like syrup. A little too dense without bright flavors to soften it.
Overall - A very distinct beer, definitely get a Vietnamese ice coffee vibe from it. Not one I could drink every day but one that you could keep and savor on special occasions.

Presentation: 500mL brown bottle with no dates. Served in a Rastal Harmony glass.
Appearance: It pours extremely thick with the consistency of motor oil. A hint of a tan head surfaces but goes away almost immediately and there's no lacing left behind. It's a rich, deep, pure black color. Some very dark brownish amber shows up at the edges when held up to light.
Smell: It's a very balanced aroma with dulce de leche being the dominant note. There's also spicy cinnamon, fresh ground coffee and very high cocoa content dark chocolate.
Taste: The sweet, rich dulce de leche and milk chocolate flavors coat the palate first and hang there for a while. Once that subsides the mildly bitter, roasted coffee bean taste emerges along with some earthy cinnamon and brown sugar notes that tie it all together.
Mouthfeel: It's very thick, chewy, creamy and absolutely silky smooth. It coats the palate with a slick oiliness and despite the heavy sweetness it never gets cloying. Carbonation is basically non existent.
Overall: The aroma is fantastic and it smells just like walking into a coffee shop during peak hours. The extremely heavy texture can feel out of hand after a while and it could definitely be jarring for those that haven't had something similar before, but it never gets cloying and the high ABV is never bothersome either. All of that, coupled with the great taste, make this an awesome beer.

The beer pours a nice looking brown creamy head that dissipates quickly while the beer has a good dark brown color. The texture appears to be quite syrupy but nice looking.
The smell is interesting and fairly sweet. It has a moderate hit of cinnamon and sweet caramel with a brush of bittersweet cocoa. The dulce de ledge stands out well as the dominant smell and aided by The cinnamon.
The taste is indulgent and wonderful. It’s a fairly and sometimes excessively sweet beer but it’s mostly tolerable. The dulce de ledge is still the dominant note and complemented by the cinnamon. The cocoa is also mixed in there but gets lost until the finish where it lingers alongside the cinnamon.
The feel is good. It has a nice silky syrup like texture and stickiness to it in the finish.

500ml bottle at home with Lisa. This was OK but ridiculously sweet. The bottom of the bottle was like drinking syrup. It's way too much - thick, which is fine/good, but also overly sweet. The cinnamon is very prominent too and dominates the flavor. I want to like this one, but they just went a bit too far.
