The beer pours a nice dark brown head that dissipates very quickly while the beer itself is a dark chocolate brown that strongly resembles black.
The smell is pretty good. It has a wonderful blend of chocolate notes with subtle barrel aged notes and a sharp roasted coffee note that penetrates the other notes. The maple syrup comes out upfront with a good moderate caramel note alongside the chocolate notes. The vanilla note comes out around the middle is good. It's pretty balanced as far as smells go.
The taste is delicious. The sweet chocolate comes out more while the coffee finally arrives in the finish. The sweeter notes from the barleywine and the bourbon notes are still subtle but still managed to breakthrough and dominate in the finish. The vanilla is pretty good since it's present but not overwhelming. The notes blend very well together such that it is a little peanut buttery too.
The feel is good. It has heavy, thick, and creamy texture that feels like melted chocolate. There is a tiny bit of fluffy carbonation.
Overall, an indulgent beer worth getting if you can find it.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells fairly fantastic, with loads of rich dark maple syrup, milk chocolate, bourbon, roasty dark coffee, sticky caramel, and vanilla.
This is ridiculously sweet and decadent, but delicious. The coffee and maple play well together, and are a natural combo, obviously. There's a super rich milk chocolate stout base here, with just a hint of roast. You don't get much of the barleywine part of the blend, maybe a touch of caramel. There's not a ton of vanilla, which is fine, as the maple and coffee is definitely heavy handed, and more vanilla would just accelerate the already high sweetness even further.
This is very, very thick and rich, with a lower level of carbonation. It's not particularly boozy at all.
Like most Veil stouts, this is pretty ridiculous, but it's truly delicious.

Heard so many mixed reviews leading up to trying this, mainly all bad. Haters are gonna hate especially when riding the hype train religiously....I absolutely loved this beer. Truly fantastic blend that will absolutely age magnificently. Another extremely impressive offering from Veil. Wow.
