The beer pours a decent off white and slightly purple head that doesn't really develop a lot even with a hard pour. The beer itself is a very dark brown such that it is black. The beer is definitely has an interesting look and definitely deviates from what is expected from the style.
The smell is good. It has a decent but light bourbon notes at the edges. The rest of the notes are a sweet toffee and light date note.
The taste is pretty good. It has a good sweet toffee roll mixed in with the sweet bourbon notes. It's fairly malty.
The feel is good. It has a heavy body with a slightly thick and viscous feel to it. It has a little carbonation but not much.
Overall, it 's a good beer and worth getting and trading for. While it certainly doesn't follow the style guidelines, it's still and indulgent beer.
