Closer Glimpse Blackberry is a blend of 19 month and 28 month old spontaneously fermented, Lambic-inspired beer with 550 grams/liter of whole Virginia Blackberries. It’s brewed in the traditional Lambic tradition - turbid mash, aged hops, long boil, overnight cooling and inoculation in our rooftop koelschip. After aging, the barrels are blended and the beer is packaged and bottle-conditioned for nearly a year. No yeast is ever pitched. ⠀
Impressions of summer blackberry harvest and blackberry Kool-aid balanced by the complexity of the blended base beer - oak tannins, pleasant acid and earthy whole leaf aged hops.

The beer pours a nice off white head that disappears very quickly. The beer itself is a clear red grape color that strongly reminds me of blood. It has a very gorgeous look to it.
The smell is fantastic. The funk comes out upfront and while it's the strongest note; it does not dominate the other smells that come out. The funk is ameliorated by the sweet blackberry notes with a bit of its tartness coming out too. The hop notes give it a good orange bitterness alongside the funk with a light smattering of banana towards the edges as well.
The taste is very good. The orange bitterness comes out upfront while the funk blends into it well. The blackberry comes out more the middle with its tart note instead of its sweeter fruit note. The wooden oak notes is also extremely subtle in the finish.
The feel is very good. It has medium light body that is fairly smooth even though its acidic and finishes dry. The acidity isn't unbearable and could help pair it with greasy foods.
Overall, this was a fantastic lambic and worth getting. It hits all the right notes with enough complexity to make it interesting but not overwhelming.
