16 oz. can dated 4/2/21. Should have poured into Veil glass, but I forgot. LOL. So it's an Aslin glass, which probably is illegal or something. Allowed to warm for at least 30 min.
L: Pours a good 1.5F light brown head with a bit of retention, but no lacing and eventually just a thin ring. Beer is very dark brown, even at edges.
S: Unsweetened chocolate and burnt sugar definitely predominate, with fainter hints of bourbon barrel and roasted malts.
T: Lots of unsweetened chocolate and roasted chicory coffee, a hint of oaky bourbon barrel and burnt sugar. Pleasurably agreeable slightly bitter finish.
F: More full-bodied at the start narrowing to medium-bodied on the finish. No carbonation to speak of. Good construction and balance and good move to go with slightly bitter finish instead of sweet.
O: More porter-like in a sense, but the usual solid effort for this annual stout.
