This is bottle 797 out of 900. Bottled on "5/27" (presumably 2016).
Disclaimer:
The rating reflects the fact that this is an old beer. This review is intended as a reference point for anyone who may still have a bottle and wants to know how it's holding up.
Look:
The color is a brown that's almost black, with cola brown highlights. The thick head is a golden caramel brown that quickly dissipates to a thin ring.
Smell:
The nose is a sugary blend of dark chocolate, roasted hazelnuts, dates, and vanilla. There are also some sticky grape/cherry candy notes. Alcohol stings the nostrils.
Taste:
The flavor is even sweeter than the nose suggests. Imagine toasting Peeps over a campfire and you're halfway there. The primary notes are burnt sugar, toasted marshmallows, bitter chocolate, graham crackers, and white jelly beans. An unpleasant cherry cough syrup note creeps up through the middle and leads into a prominent and enduring alcohol note. The long finish suggests a cloying combination of Oreo filling, store-brand Nutella, and coffee liqueur.
Feel:
Body is medium-full and oily, with an alcohol burn that remains undimmed after almost 9 years in the bottle.
Overall:
This is a difficult beer which displays the full firepower of its 13% strength in every sip. Manages to convey sugar more than malt, and alcohol more than bourbon. I can only imagine that Great Uncle George was an absolute bruiser when fresh.

Bottled 5/26 and I have number 176 out of 900
This is one of the great barrel aged stouts to come out of los angeles (including the greater los angeles area). Its hot, its bold, and its loaded with bourbon, chocolate, and cherry flavors. Somehow it manages to be both a huge chewy stout and a scary drinkable stout.
This beer will become a sleeper favorite in the years to come. With age, it will mellow into a beautifully tamed beast. Buy em if you find em.

Bottled on 5/26/16. Bottle # 99/900
Very dark brown color with a reddish hue around the outer edge. Thin layered tan colored head and no lacing. Aroma of espresso, whiskey barrel, vanilla bean, and cocoa. Tastes of roast malt, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, and oak. Nice sweet flavors; full, creamy feel and a little hot with some sticky sweetness. Another fantastic BA stout from Mumford. Real wonderful flavor profile compliments the nose with the full mouthfeel leaving you yearning for more! Well done!
7 20 2018 update: #313/900. The above still applies but with a little less of the boozy heat.

Pours like a black inkwell capped in cocoa-colored foam that dissipates to a thin ring. Baker's chocolate, nutty roasted coffee, leather, boozy heat, and a bit of vinous sweetness on the nose. Spicy rye notes hit my tongue on a hot entry that eventually transitions to a lingering chocolate and cola finish. I've not had the base beer for comparison, but there's plenty of barrel character; it could be better integrated into the rest of the flavor profile, so I might recommend ageing. However, this was bottle 540 of 900, so likely not many left to sock away for later. Overall, a really nice first anniversary effort from a brewery I had never heard of!
