Sterling Pig Brewery "This Little Piggy (Citra)"

Notes via stream of consciousness: A very hazy golden-orange body is capped by a short head of white foam. The aroma is not the brightest for an IPA but it's clear. It's citrusy and floral with just a little bit of hop resin to it. On to the taste... much wider! The malt is sweetish and bready. A solid bitterness balances it which is a nice twist as so often you get a sweeter New England style IPA. I'm getting notes of non-specific citrus but also more clearly grapefruit and a little bit of lemon-lime. Then there's peach, passionfruit... ripe lychee... gooseberry... ... and something else tropical that I just can't put my finger on. It's nice. Some more hops in the aroma would be nice but I can't really complain at this point as the hops in the flavor are so solid. It must be dry hopped too as I'm getting some "hop burn". It's also a little resinous which is nice. It finishes dry with the fruit stepping to the side as the resins and bitterness come forward. In the mouth it's medium bodied, and perhaps on the higher end of that. It's hard to tell with theses beers that have a lot of extra proteins so I'll just go with medium bodied on the fuller side and crisp. Despite a shorter than expected head to begin with (I think I just mispoured it as I'm using a smaller glass than I usually do) it's held up well and I have a nice creamy island of foam covering most of the surface, and then a creamy collar around the glass as well. The lacing is nice and looks like trees rising on the horizon. I think this is a very well done, nicely balanced and rounded IPA that steps up and delivers both malt and hop flavor.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Taste is of herbal hops, a touch of melon. Taste is the same as the aroma, mild to moderate bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

It's a clear glass pint of the brew drawn from a tap. There's not much of a white head atop, but there is some glass lacing. There's a mild citra hop and malt aroma. The color is a light, but dull, orange-amber and it's opaque. This drinks smoothly and the hops and malt are in nice harmony. There's a pleasant earthiness and even faint nuttiness to the combination that more than compensates for some initial sweetness. As with most good IPAs, the finish turns slightly more bitter and dry. Here is another example of a brew with just the right taste of alcohol in its overall. This is a very good, if not outstanding AIPA that holds up well when having more than one.

16 ounce can poured into a tulip glass. Born on 9/10/21.
L---Cloudy amber color---not very appetizing. Thick, slightly off-white head had very good retention and left excellent lacing.
S---Well, obviously citra hops are prominent. Citrus...orange, lemon and grapefruit.
T---Fruity, citrus. Some light maltiness for some balance.
F---Medium/full bodied with ok carbonation.
O---Solid, respectable beer. Nothing fancy, nothing I'll look for again.

L: pours a nice golden straw with minimal head and no lacing
S: I really don’t get much in the nose. Maybe a little hops, and pine.
T: hop forward with a hint of pine at the end.
F: flat and thin. Almost no carbonation
O: maybe I had a bad draft. Just not that good

Hazy light amber with a good head.
