Look out! It’s the Invasion of the Blackberries!!! An experiment gone wrong in the lab took over our brewmaster and the brewery, then, everything went black. So beware as thorn covered arms try to reach out and take over your minds and your taste buds. More than a few blackberries were harmed in the making of this beer.

Appearance: Slightly clear/slightly hazy peachy orange with hues of burnt orange and amber and with a fairly frothy 1.5 finger of white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Decent enough lacing with a solid ring that houses a beautiful half moon of surface foam .
Aromatics: Nondescript dark fruit is first then the more noticeable blackberry specific scent kicks in - and its a lightly-sweet, the typically sweeter smelling malts are minimized leaving a more natural fruity sweet. There a very little hint of pomaceous fruit tang (apple or pear) that comes in at the end of it as well.
Taste: The blackberry-ness is fairly well presented in the tart sweetness with a little fresh wheat in it. Even leaves a bit of that dry fruit linger at the end. Fairly straightforward flavour that blends well with the light-earthy hops bitterness and traditional lager flavour without complicating or muddling it.
Feel: Medium carbonation and medium body, that has both crisp and tangy components on different parts of the palate. The finish is semi-dry mixed sensations of the drying bitter of blackberry fruit and a slightly leafy bitter resin.
Overall: Crisp and refreshing as a lager should be, with that slight fruity and wine-like dryness. Nothing overly fantastic, but has a great balance of flavour and is kept simple.
Pairing: Go light - as a lager usually doesn’t typically go with heavier meats and/or cheeses - you want a light unripened cheese and salad combo. I saw a great arugula and whipped ricotta salad recipe I think would be perfect. Or a a light fresh bite sized bread topped with a cherry tomato half, a sliced of pearl onion, slice of bocconcini cheese, 2 fresh basil leaves, and a couple drips of balsamic vinegar and oil. You could even add in a few small slivers or finely chopped chicken to those without too much of an issue.
