Picked this up somewhat by chance during our most recent visit to Vancouver Island. I LOVE a well crafted lager, and this one is absolutely spot on. Crisp, refreshing, with a beautiful malt profile. The perfect way to wrap up a day of beachcombing and enjoying this beautiful part of Canada.

Appearance: It pours a fairly rich gold bright and clear. The head is pretty fluffy and white, does dissipate pretty quickly, but does leave a good smattering of lace and small patches of surface foam.
Aromatics: Light and clean smelling. fresh grass and green wheat and a little sweetness from the malts.
Taste: Toasty biscuit malts and a subtle mild spice. There is a VERY subtle orangeness in the sweet opening, then moves on to be somewhat more earthy and grasslike with a sun dried wheat flavour taken into the aftertaste which is mostly a mild bitter and the tiniest hint of booziness (which is surprising usually at 5% you don't detect it that much) .
Feel: Light crisp from the carbonation and smooth but with a well established medium weight body (actually fairly heavy for what I was expecting). A light dry bitter in the finish but otherwise cuts out really clean.
Overall: A great relatively mild old-school lager. Light and crisp and all the other usual hallmarks of a refreshing lager. The only kinds of lagers in this same style that do a better job are the pure organic lagers. Nothing fancy, no special tricks, and not stellar - but not really mediocre either. Red Arrow’s shot at a nice smooth and clean beer is pretty good overall.
Pairing: It is clean and refreshing and best when really cold. Simple beer and flavours so you could in theory have just about anything that you would find on the patio - from BBQ burgers with all the fixins’ or just some regular potato chips and good company and conversation. This is a beer with a great versatility and should go good with just about anything.
