still a tasty beer, but nowhere near as dramatic or compelling as the sour version, which seemed to have a whole lot more blueberries in it. this is just light pink instead of ruptured purple sharpie, and its more sweet from the fruit than blueberry flavored, unlike the other one. maybe something about the lower ph of the sour pulling more flavor out of the fruit, thats a possible theory, or maybe they just used less here. as a saison, its pretty uninteresting, without much rustic yeast character here at all, and less of a wheaty malt base than expected in the style. its very light despite its higher abv, and is cool in that regard, but it seems almost under flavored. definitely sweeter than i like in the style too, and without as much carbonation as it needs, it sags a little bit. i had really high hopes for this after liking the sour edition so much, but it was not to be. did the bruery make the other one and call to arms made this one? how did the collaboration work? in any event, the other one is a real winner while this one doesnt quite measure up. just not as interesting as it should be...
