This beer is my favourite Discount beer at The Beer Store. In fact, it beats out some of the higher priced, Micro-brewed and BIG 10 beers hands down. Do not be afraid to give this one a ride around the Patio.
Pours a pale, golden yellow.
Smells of grassy tones and some notes of lemon
Less hoppy taste than most beers, clean and crisp...a Canadian character.

341 mL bottle from a six-pack picked up at TBS. As someone who has spent much of the last decade living as a broke post-secondary student, I'm a little surprised I've never gotten around to trying this. I've seen it almost everywhere in this province, but as far as value-brand beers go I usually just stick with one of several 'trusted brands' rather than taking a risk with unknowns. Served ice cold.
Pours a pale straw yellow colour, topped with one finger of frothy, somewhat dense, white-coloured head that fizzles away over the next few minutes. It leaves behind a thin, foamy cap at the surface, as well as some smears of lacing on the sides. A reasonably attractive pale lager. The aroma is comprised primarily of grainy pale malts and honey, with a distinct, somewhat off-putting adjunct vibe. At least it isn't skunked - the clear bottle had me worried but I guess the light-sealed sixer containers do the job.
Tastes ok, but I'm not exactly regretting passing it up all these years. The flavour is light and grainy, with some pale barley malt flavours mingling with corn syrup and honey, resulting in a flavour profile that leans a little too heavily toward the saccharine side. Some apple skin notes, with a (thankfully) dry finish that cuts through the sweetness. Light-bodied and watery, with typically high carbonation levels for the style. Easy to drink quickly, and not good for much else.
Final Grade: 2.78, a mediocre C. Brick's Red Baron Premium Blonde Lager is nothing special, but a shrewd beer shopper can probably determine that just from reading the name - there is a good chance that any pale lager calling itself 'premium' is compensating for something. As far as value brands go, this is slightly better than average, but overall it's a very forgettable lager. I'd take this over garbage like Lucky or Old Milwaukee, but even if I limited myself to the 'cheap beer' category, I can think of various preferable alternatives (e.g. Upper Canada, or even the James Ready line). The 'lime' version, which I reviewed last summer, is marginally better, if only because the lime distracts you from the various brewing faults. Something to skip unless you're an extremely frugal lager drinker.

a-Golden straw colour with very minimal head
s-malty sweetness...slight malt smell bready, yeasty notes...
t-slight hop flavour, malty flavour, yeast...solid beer for the money.
m-perfect for the abv.

Overall – The beer is quite drinkable, but there's nothing about it that makes it noteworthy. It also would benefit from a lower level of carbonation. I wouldn't buy this beer again.
