Waterloo Citrus Radler gives a twist to refreshment with infusions of real lemon and lime juice. At the heart of this crisp Radler, you’ll find an honest lager with just a touch of pleasing bitterness. It’s perfect after nine innings. Or eighteen holes.

473 ml can served cold into a St. Pauli Girl mug /glass. Purchased from the LCBO for under $3 CDN.

Appearance - Pours a mostly clear, but slightly hazy beer. Weak pale golden color. Lots of bubbles. A three quarter finger white head is poured and rests on top actually lasting for a decent while.

Smell - Lemon lime soda with an earthy and natural element, maybe a touch of ginger. Thankfully doesn't smell sickly sweet. No nose to speak of otherwise.

Taste - Very sweet, weak beer and very much lemon lime soda. No bitterness (fine) but lacks that robust citrus flavor to elevate and kind of distance itself from the sweetness. Very meh.

Mouthfeel - Carbonation is ok, body is light, overall sweet and sticky which is the opposite of a good crisp radler.

Overall - Started ok, but the citrus simply isn't citrus enough. Instead passes as off brand Sprite or 7up, with a color change and if you were to drink a full 2 litres you might feel a little buzz, provided you weren't sick. Won't repeat this purchase,

One of those weirdly artificial things that can't find it's place. I love radlers when their well made -- a decent beer paired up with some real fruit that is able to speak plainly and cleanly. This is too much of a tutti frutti thing with an unnatural chemical note. Just an unfortunate can of meh.

473 mL can from TBS; dated Mar 31 2017 and served well chilled. Looks like they brought back the boar logo.

Pours a lightly fogged straw yellow colour, generating one finger of fizzy white foam that is in a hurry to be somewhere else. By the 60 second mark, it has fizzled off completely, with only a thin collar and a few wisps on the surface remaining. Lemon zest and lime juice on the nose; smells kind of like Sprite, with only a few hints of apples and grainy pale malts in place to dispel that "lemon-lime soft drink" sensation.

A rather basic shandy-type concoction, comprised of light sugar sweetness, mixed together with tart lime and lemon juices. Hints of apple juice and cereal grains become noticeable at the finish, when the acidity of the citrus fruits begins to taper off. Lightly sweet aftertaste that fades within a few seconds. Light in body, with average carbonation that is a little on the low side for something that is supposed to be a light summer refresher. Don't get me wrong - it's refreshing, but not any moreso than a can of 7-Up.

Final Grade: 3.21, a C+. Waterloo's Citrus Radler isn't that bad, but I wouldn't say it's one of the better radlers/shandies available in Ontario at the moment. Not as sweet as their old Lemonade Radler - which I am assuming has been retired and replaced with this offering - but I do think I preferred the old recipe (and their still-extant grapefruit radler is also a bit better IMO). This one just seems to be lacking... something. What that something is, I can't really say for sure, but I can at least describe my gripes with this radler: it's a little watery and diluted in terms of flavour, and not as crisp/prickly as I'd like from something that is usually supposed to be 50% soda. At best, it's serviceable.
