Formerly Jubilee Amber

Our true-to-style Jubilee Amber Lager is brewed with Vienna malt and noble hops, utilizing classic European brewing methods. Jubilee Amber Lager is a medium bodied beer with an exquisite palate, complemented by a gentle creaminess and slight malt sweetness. It finishes with an amazing toffee malt flavour and crisp bitterness that dries smoothly on your palate without becoming too sweet. The enticing toasted malt nose and gentle hop flavour rival the world’s very best Vienna Lagers.

Dark amber in colour, bready malt in the nose. Taste is roasted oats and caramel. Too sweet for me.

Taste is smooth a little bitter malty toffee and sweet not crazy about the sweetness and taste it's a well balanced beer .
The taste is fresh not sure what the brew date is there is a number 27 under the can .
Why not a date ?
Anyways
Cheers

I got a can of this beer from a beer store in Sault Ste Marie whilst there for my son's hockey tournament. It poured a clear amber with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had faint malt notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with caramel malt start and subtle bitter clean finish. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

Pours dark bronze with a wispy, shortlived bubbly head. The aroma is of butterscotch cake, maple syrup and herbal hops. The taste is sweet with a caramel edge. Hops are very subdued. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and somewhat cloying. Light bitterness and fruity, sugary maltiness in the finish.

A sweet, somewhat flawed take on the style. I won't be seeking out again.

I want to say nice things about this Vienna (my favorite lager style.) But Ladder Run is average.
But that is OK. Here is a part-time brewer (their main business is cider) making a go of it on an obscure almost isolated back-side of Lake Huron. If offering folks a sophisticated lager (as Vienna is) helps make all that more enriching, then why not?

Fresh bottle from brewery: Decants as a clear deep amber with orange highlights. Creamy 3 finger cap that laces well. Well carbonated. Nose is rich in toasty-bready Vienna malts, little detectable sweetness, some earthy-woody noble hop tones ,nice fresh aroma and true to style. Medium bodied smooth mouth feel clean malty character. Taste profile is on style as well...bready-toasty wiith very light sweeness in front, hops sit back, mid palate the noble hops give off heir earthy woody bittering as the clean finish dries right out and provides a small hop bite in the end. A very good (true to style) rendition of the Vienna style, the first we have in the Ontario market at least. With a few minor tweeks this would be on par with Great Lakes Eliot Ness. Satisfying, quenching yet flavorful with a decent malt discernment and hop bite....this is a keeper. Hope it’’s not just a one off.

473 mL can from the LCBO; no freshness info. This is a re-branded version of the old King Vienna Lager. Served well-chilled.

Pours a clear orange-amber colour, with just over a finger's worth of soapy, frothy bone white-coloured head. It lasts for 3-4 minutes, steadily wilting down to a foamy cap and generous collar; looks good, but it could use some lacing. Doughy, bready malts on the nose, with biscuity sweetness and light caramel. Very clean aroma, with hints of grassy noble hops.

A reliable pounder - or it would be, if they sold it locally. The flavour profile follows the nose - lots of clean, Vienna malt-forward goodness. Bready, biscuity malts and restrained brown sugar sweetness, with hints of toasted nuts and plum leading into a grassy, floral, somewhat earthy finish. Nutty caramel sweetness in the aftertaste which quickly fades. Light in body, with middling carbonation levels that provide a prickly bite; refreshing and quaffable.

[Updated Nov 13 2017]

Another tallboy can, this time re-branded as "Ladder Run Amber Lager", but it's still the same beer as Jubilee or King Vienna (so no grade updates are needed). Coded ' 7299' (canned Oct 26 2017 if I've deciphered that properly). Looks and smells the same as ever, with a clean, toasty, caramelized malt backbone and some nutty sweetness, wrapped up by an earthy, gently noble hopped back end. This style has never been a go-to for me, yet this particular beer's quality has held up through multiple re-brands, and it's still a fine German-style amber. For any Ontario amber lager fans who might be reading, Ladder Run is one of the better, more balanced ones out there.

Final Grade: 3.75, a B+
