16oz tallboy can purchased at Rocket Market, high atop Spokane's South Hill, for somewhere between $4-5.
Poured into a pint glass, this was a very dark brown, virtually black, until held up to direct light, whereupon it took on a mahogany shade around the edges. Big, rocky, khaki colored head. Lots of lace.
Bitter and sweet nose. Reminds me of coffee and brown sugar.
Slightly acidic coffee flavor up front, with a sweetness somewhere between molasses and brown sugar in the background. Bitter roastiness throughout. As it warmed, the roastiness mellowed a little, but not too much.
A little bit thin for the style, but not to the point of being a deal breaker.
A decent coffee stout, but hardly anything revelatory. I'd drink it again, but not at standard Great Notion prices.

Pours black but pale, not deep black. Decent lacing. Nose is the highlight, tons of coffee and roasted grain with maybe a hint of maple. Mouth has a bit of bite, maybe cask would be better for this feel? Taste is coffee up front, which fades to some roasted grain and finishes dry. The taste is good, but it's a little thin and doesn't live up to my hopes based on the nose.

Canned 11/7, which for a stout is super-fresh. Very dark pour, light head. Nose is coffee and light roast grains. Taste is nicely balanced between the roast and the coffee. Body is a bit on the light side and dry, so we'd probably put it into a porter class. ABV is a modest 6.2%. A good sipping beer for puttering around the kitchen. Let it warm a smidgen.
