Poured from 16oz can into my 8th Wonder chalice. Canned 5/6/24.

Appearance: murky golden-yellow hue with a finger of frothy ivory foam.

Smell: a bit sweet, a little grassy, and with some earthy tropical fruit in the mix, maybe like papaya or something. It's nice.

Taste: super rich, fruity, juicy, tropical; wonderful guava and mango going on here along with some of that earthier papaya. That's what I'm talkin' bout! Way better than the aroma hinted at.

Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with really good carbonation and a nicely smooth, rich creaminess. Really good.

Overall: this is a super-tasty earthy-tropical hazy. I'm super into it.

a flavorful hazy done exclusively with motueka, a neat new zealand hop that seems so often paired with other varietals, so i was pumped to try this, an almost entirely dry hopped expression of it in isolation, and knowing these guys i knew it would be robust. a very pale brew, whitewashed and even milky starchy looking, but with a frothy inch of white head from the tap with nice lace and retention, a little thick, kind of ghostly in shade, but not messy. the nose is awesome and the taste mirrors it nicely, no real drop off there at all, which is not commonly the case with these dry hop forward ipa types, some unexpected fruity notes to this including white peach and green pear, but also more familiar white grape, kiwi, and honeydew melon, its juicy and its fresh, its understated when its cold but it opens up a lot with some temperature, sauvignon blanc, honeysuckle, fresh flowers. its cool how pale and dry the grain base is, really lets the hops shine, no sweetness at all, it even tastes a little raw to me, even doughy, some unmalted wheat perhaps? lots of body still, and some balance in a new school kind of way, and yeah maybe its a little dense for hops like this, which arent really oily and palate permeating even when dosed so boldly, but i like the grain side of this, its creamy and it extends the hops. motueka is a cool hop, it has some similarities to other southern hemisphere varietals and even to citra in some ways, and this beer is a cool showcase of it in a really contemporary context. smooth and flavorful, low bitterness, very soft. yum.

16oz tallboy purchased at Community Pint in Spokane, WA, for $6. First opportunity I've ever had to buy a Great Notion beer. According to the stamp near the top, this was canned on November 19, 2018.

Poured into a big Boston Lager glass, this was the color of an orange creamsickle, and was entirety opaque. A small, creamy, white head formed and was highly resilient, and easily swirled into greater size. Spotty lace.

Fruity and melon-like in the aroma. Mangoes, oranges and a little bit of cantaloupe jump out. Virtually no bitter hop notes.

Tastes like what an orange creamsickle might taste like without vanilla being added. Fruity and sweet without being at all cloying. Towards the finish there's the merest hint of a bitter, pithy dryness, but it remains creamy throughout.

Medium bodied, with a luscious, creamy mouthfeel.

This, at least to my western tastebuds, screams NE Hazy IPA, though it's looks are beyond hazy, really. Soft and creamy, fruit forward but also restrained, it's an absolute delight to drink this. Great Notion, at least at first taste, is worthy of the hype.

Love the MoMo! Pours a super light extra turbid yellow. Thin to medium white foam head. Nose is a balance of sweet fruityness and mellow maltyness. Super fresh bit of citrus. Well balanced between bitter and sweet. Creamy body and smooth round mouthfeel. This is a really nice brew.

My first Great Notion beer! Looks like a quintessential NEIPA. The perfect soft feel to it too. Not too bitter and full in body. The perfect balance in bitterness and sweetness for me. Great Notion is worth the hype.
