A new offering from our experimental series of IPA's, this beer was fermented with toasted rice, flaked oats, mangoes, and hundreds of lbs of coconut.

Hazy yellow with white speckling and collar. Upon closer look has coconut floaties too. Smell and taste are clones: mango, creamy peach, coconut and vanilla cream all lead potently, light orange supports, hops on back end are mild. Taste has more lasting power than nose. Feel is on the verge of milkshake but stops short, rather an ipa with a ton of vanilla and sugar added. Gets close to cloying too. A fun dessert ipa but for summer, too light to stand with true milkshake ipas

16oz can

Pours a mediocre finger of white head into my willibecher glass. Fizzes pretty quickly. Initial lacing looks sub par. Body is a light yellow, hints of brown as well. I mean the color is intriguing, but the head/lacing are poor.

Getting a little bit of coconut, more citrus hops than anything. A tad bit dank. Nothing too crazy honestly. Overall, I mean this is fine, but it's pretty strait forward with the citrus.

Whoa, well the flavor hits quite a bit harder. Coconut hits super hard throughout the entire palate, and even lingers a bit. Not incredibly citrusy on the flavor, but there is a very zesty presence. Quite nice, though I can't say it tastes much like an IPA, still beer, barely. Moderate bitterness is there, if you look for it.

Mouthfeel is ok, very zesty. Body feels like sake, very thick. Carbonation is waaay too low though, kinda unacceptable there.

Drinkability is very high. It's tasty, with no offensive flavors.

The appearance turned out pretty horrendous. Zero lacing, bad head, not too good.

This is my first beer from Great Notion. A fun idea, and a great coconut presence, but this certainly might be getting too cute, and that's taking into account it being a hazy. Kinda starts to lose sight of more important areas - appearance, complexity, carbonation.

Canned 9/21/18, consumed 10/16/18

L: Poured hazy & cloudy straw color with no head at all and no lacing.

S&T: Wow pretty much smells and taste EXACTLY as advertised - mangoes, coconut, and vanilla are all very prominent and discernable. Like having the Japanese treat without all the crazy chewing.

F: Medium, smooth & soft with a little bit of a tangy zing, low bitterness, and good carbonation.

O: While not a lot to look at, this beer certainly achieves what it sets out to be very nicely. Perfect dessert-like IPA without lactose to worry about. Very impressed.
