16oz can
Pours maybe a finger of white head into my willi becher glass. Somewhat soapy, retention is average, maybe a little below. Initial lacing looks very good. Body is a hazy yellow. Looks alright so far.
Nose is creamy. Faint notes of citrus, maybe a tiny bit of tropical fruits. Nose is not very big. No off flavors, but very average.
The beer has a nice kick to it, borderline booze punch, but not quite. Comes across as very lively and effervescent. This lends itself more to the mouthfeel than actual flavor. The flavor is…hard to dissect. Mostly just a light citrus IPA. Not bad for 8.5 percent, it’s a nice easy drinking beer, but I would like more flavor.
Other than the lively feel, the beer carries a medium-low carbonation, the bite is more of a citrus, hop combo. Body is on the lighter side. Not too sweet, but definitely not on the dry side. Bitterness is quite low. Despite some of the imperfections here, the effervescent bite is really doing a lot of work.
The drinkability is pretty good for a 8.5 beer. Not too sweet, not really any booze, and it’s enjoyable. Drinks pretty light.
The appearance turned out pretty nice. Head was meh, but I got very good lacing.
Overall I’m going to actually give this a 4 overall despite the smell and flavor being average. The fact that this drinks like a much much lighter beer, and the inviting mouthfeel, make for an enjoyable brew.
