Mocha head holds a solid almost medium ring atop the beer. Sipping slowly doesn’t help produce sustained lacing, but a few bubbles hold the glass near where I take a sip.
When they brought the beer to the table, the vanilla and brownie batter took no time wafting toward me. Closer inspection brings some marshmallow and cocoa powder along with a distinctive barrel note.
There’s a bit of a almost savory tang to the taste to join the vanilla, chocolate, and marshmallow predicted in the nose. It’s a little sweet, but not as much as I expected. There’s sort of a Baltic Porter underlying impression to this, and though the feel is a bit thicker than that style, it manages to have a slickness to it.
I like how the barrel character provides a little spice to the mix. Bourbon is represented in a well-integrated fashion.
