Drank from a 1 pint (16 fl oz.) can purchased at Fenway Beer Shop, Boston, MA
Served in a tulip
Gorgeous appearance. The beer poured a deep plum color and was topped by a tight, fluffy, finger-tall, light magenta crown that fell to a thin collar. A blanket of patchy, spotty lacing coated the glass.
The aroma was definitely very blueberry and vanilla forward, but both of these aspects initially seemed quite artificial (and the label stating that this beer contains both natural and artificial flavors confirmed my sentiments). The vanilla was super powdery and reminded me of a poor quality vanilla scented candle. As the beer sat, the vanilla mellowed and the blueberry intensified. Freshly juiced blueberries came to mind. Hint of booze in the background. Later, the blueberry was even more pronounced.
The flavor profile was surprisingly tart and somewhat harsh. Berry and vanilla notes were noticeable up front. As the beer moved along the palate, the berries turned quite tart. A fairly potent booziness appeared as well. On the back end, the beer became quite tannic and astringent, like a bottle of red wine that had been left open for far too long. More berry-like tartness and lingering booze on the finish.
Nice creamy, fluffy mouthfeel. Slick and smooth on the palate. Fuller bodied for the style. The liquid contained a fine, somewhat zippy effervescence that worked nicely for the style.
Great Notion’s fruited sours have been a mixed bag for me, and Double Blueberry Marshmallow Shake was unfortunately really disappointing. The aroma seemed very artificial initially, and the flavor profile was fairly harsh and excessively boozy. I definitely had much higher hopes for this beer.

Appearance: Pours cloudy and the color of blueberry juice with a one finger head; streaky lacing
Smell: Blueberry and marshmallow with strong vanilla creme tones
Taste: Sweet and tart blueberry flavor forward with the marshmallow and vanilla emerging; tastes like a South American fruit juice drink, bringing both the tart and sweet elements in a milkshake-like presentation
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body; creamy with moderate carbonation
Overall: A real eye-opener of a beer that takes the milkshake concept to the south of the border - If you have ever had a South American fresh fruit juice drink made with milk (even though this has no lactose) you will know what I mean
Thanks, BEER88, for the opportunity
